Psychanalyse et psychotherapie: une relation longue et agitee

Journal Article or Monograph

Title: Psychanalyse et psychotherapie: une relation longue et agitee
Year: 2006
Authors: Eisold, K.

The debate over distinguishing psychoanalysis and psychotherapy has been muddied by two underlying issues. The scientific identity that psychoanalysis claimed was in conflict with the actual therapeutic mission it assumed. Psychoanalysis was further hampered in those discussions by its conflicts over doctrinal purity and dissidence. More recently, the debate has been clouded by the fact that newer candidates can anticipate careers as psychotherapists. The course of the debate and the problems encountered in are affected by the relations between the psychoanalytic establishment and the health care industry. The author examines the situation in different countries. In the current context, the fate of dynamic psychotherapy is in danger as well as that of psychoanalysis.
